The organic compounds contained in rinse water in the semiconductor industry can affect the yield and quality of products. Therefore, it is stipulated that the total organic carbon (TOC) pollutant content in water shall not exceed one part per million (ppb), which means that only ultrapure water can be used in this application.
The powerful development of ultraviolet irradiation technology has successfully introduced it into the production of ultrapure water in industries such as semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and health products. This technology not only plays a huge role in disinfection, but also has significant effects in reducing TOC, removing ozone and chlorine.
In this application, UV light with wavelengths of 254nm and 185nm is used for disinfection, which can destroy residual ozone molecules in water. 185nm radiation can decompose organic molecules, which has higher energy than 254nm wavelength. It can decompose free hydroxyl groups from water molecules, thereby oxidizing and decomposing organic matter into CO2 and water, thereby reducing the TOC content in water.
Working principle
This device adopts a specially designed high-intensity ozone ultraviolet sterilization lamp and a micro carbon odorous stainless steel cylinder with a specially treated inner wall. The outer side of the cylinder is specially polished, so that the pre treated water is irradiated with sufficient 185nm ultraviolet radiation when flowing through the cylinder, which has good sterilization effect and effectively reduces the impact on ultrapure water.
